Extended Periodic Table

This periodic table is extended to include element 168. Since elements above 109 have not yet been proven to exist, they have only generic names and symbols. These names and symbols are assigned according to a simple set of IUPAC rules.

IUPAC Generic Naming Convention for the Chemical Elements

Until the existence of a new element is proven to the satisfaction of the International Union of Applied Chemists (IUPAC), the elements are to have names and symbols that are devised according to some very precise but simple rules.

The name is based on the digits in the element's atomic number. Simply replace each digit with the expression shown on this table, then end the name with the usual -ium suffix.

The corresponding chemical symbol is the first letter of each of the three main syllables.

Example: Element 125

1 = un 2 = bi 5 = pent
un-bi-pent-ium
or
unbipentium, Ubp
0 nil
1 un
2 bi
3 tri
4 quad
5 pent
6 hex
7 sept
8 oct
9 enn
